John Colbert has been teachiing our 13-year old daughter, Emmy, clarinet and bass clarinet for over a year and we've been so impressed with his cheerful personality, skillful teaching methods and ability to inspire his students.  Emmy has band class in middle school, but it has one teacher with forty students, so her lessons with John have provided the essential personal instruction she needs to becoma a really good musician.  Emmy is always delighted to go to her lessons with John and we're all so proud of the wonderful progress she continues to make every week.                                                                     GG

I love having Mr. Colbert as my music teacher.  I've taken lessons from him for five years.  He is patient, kind and encouraging with his students.  He makes me want to learn and stretch myself.  His guidance prepared me to play with the highest - level high school band as a 10th grader.  His dedication to teaching and his obvious love of music make him an ideal teacher.  Not only is he a talented musiciaan himself, but he shares his talent with his students so they in turn experience the joy of music.  I'm lucky to have him as my teacher.                 MH

Mr. John guided me in music from 7th grade through 10th grade.  We started in my second year of playing, and I was falling a bit behind in band.  John helped me to progressing my playing pretty quickly, and through his wonderful teaching, I was able to make All District Band three times and earn Superior ratings on music I thought I would never be able to play.  Mr. John would definitely have been able to prepare me for college auditions if I hadn't moved away.  Mr. John has guided me from simple, easy music to hard, complicated music.       PM
